Exciting activities in Zambia include white water rafting on the Zambezi River
Zambia is known by some as the “Butterfly of Africa” due to the shape of the country. One thing is for sure, safaris in Zambia are wild and memorable, but there is so much more to Zambia travel than many realise. The biggest pull is probably the Victoria Falls. One of the “Seven Wonders of the World”, this gigantic waterfall will simply leave you speechless and the view is just as magnificent as it is on the Zimbabwean side. Journey into Africa offers a variety of tours in Zambia, including having a stop at the Vic Falls as an add-on to another package. Aside from the popular game parks and the majestic falls, here are some other places and activities worth enjoying while in Zambia:
- Lake Kariba:
The 226km long Lake Kariba is the largest man made dam in Africa and offers some of the most spectacular views, beautiful African sunsets and loads of luxurious accommodation. The weather is normally on the sunny side and a wide range of water sports can be enjoyed by guests. Sports fishing and boating can also be done here. It is highly recommended that guests travel to see the dam wall as the sheer size is something to behold.
- Lake Tanganyika:
This gigantic lake washes into Tanzania, Burundi, Congo DR and Zambia and is the largest fresh water lake in the world. It is also the second deepest, only defeated by Russia's Lake Baikal. Zambia might only own seven percent of the surface area, but that does not mean guests can’t enjoy the benefits. With over 350 different species of fish, this area is also excellent for angling.
- The Livingstone Memorial:
The man who explored Southern Africa to find the source of the Nile is remembered at the very spot where he took his last breath before dying. His servants then buried his heart under a nearby tree and wrapped up his body, carrying it for 11 months and over 1500km before it could be shipped back to England.
- Adventure Activities:
Adrenaline addicts will love Zambia with a wide range of activities to choose from including white river rafting, river boarding, bungee jumping, gorge swinging, horse trails, canoe safaris and abseiling.
A number of vibrant cities, interesting museums and excellent safaris can be enjoyed while doing a tour in Zambia. Journey into Africa’s passionate and dedicated staff will ensure that you can enjoy the African safari of your dreams. Simply browse what is one offer or contact us.

What our guests have to say...
The tour was excellent. The lodging chosen at Kwa-Madwala as our base camp was first rate. We loved our chalet and the food was very good. Our guide Christiaan was very knowledgeable as well as flexible. We would definitely travel with Journey Into Africa again and recommend them to anyone who asks.Mr & Mrs Reichard USA 6 Day Kruger & Private Game Lodge Safari 03-08 October 2010 View all comments... |
