GGD06 - 15 Day Cape Town, Garden Route, Kwazulu-Natal & Sun City Golf Tour

A golf tour combining the finest golf and wildlife that South Africa has to offer. This tour takes in as much as possible of South Africa without feeling too rushed. To save time on excessive driving in this vast country, this tour comes inclusive of two domestic flights. South Africa is extensive and if it is purely golf and relaxation you want this tour is for you. The tour starts with golf in Cape Town - the 'Mothercity'. Take in the beauty of the Cape's wine region and quaint towns of Knysna, Oudtshoorn and George, including top golf courses such as Pezula and Simola (already enough to make the most dedicated golfer jealous). Up to now you are only half-way, we still have to catch a flight to Durban where we explore the north coast that also boasts a number of South Africa's masterpieces - Sun City. This resort will leave you mesmerized, be it on the world famous Gary Player Course or trying to clear the par 3 'Crocodile Pit' on the 13th of the Lost City Course. Game viewing of the famous 'Big 5' is also part of your experience at the nearby Pilanesberg National Park. You are bound to go home with the lion's share of a South African experience.

Section 1: Only the Cape Town, Garden Route and Kwazulu-Natal sections of this tour are run as a guided tour.
Section 2: The Sun City section will be done on your own as a private tour. There is no need for a guide at Sun City.

SECTION 1: Guided Section

Day 1 of the tour
Guests arrive in Cape Town in the morning where you will be met by your tour guide. You will then travel to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront where you will have a light lunch before joining a boat trip to Robben Island (Prison Island where Nelson Mandela spent 19 years). After you return from your boat trip you will then check in to your hotel and have the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure to enjoy dinner at one of Cape Town's many fine restaurants.

Day 2 of the tour
This morning you will be collected at your hotel by your guide and then do the scenic South Peninsula Tour of the Cape taking in Hout Bay, Chapman's Peak, Cape Point (where many like to believe the two oceans meet) and Simon's Town along the way. You will then stop for lunch at the Westlake Golf Club before having a great 18 holes of golf in the afternoon.

Day 3 of the tour
This morning after a relaxing breakfast we check out of the hotel and travel to Paarl where we get to play a round of golf on the Paarl & Boschenmeer Golf Course which is a golf estate in the heart of wine country. After golf we check in to our small quaint hotel in the heart of Stellenbosch where you are free to explore.

Day 4 of the tour
This morning we play a round of golf on the excellent new De Zalze Golf Course. We then have lunch and an amazing afternoon on a wine tasting tour where we get to sample the red and white wines produced at some of the top South African wine estates. This evening you are again at leisure.

Day 5 of the tour
Today we check out and depart Stellenbosch for a day of scenic driving. A stop in Hermanus may bring you a sighting of the Southern Right Whales in the bay (seasonal). We have a light lunch in Swellendam before continuing on to Mossel Bay where we will check in to our hotel. The hotel is situated right on the beachfront and you will then have the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure.

Day 6 of the tour
This morning we will play a round of golf on the Mossel Bay Golf Course. After golf we will then make our way on to the small quaint town of Knysna. We arrive in Knysna to check in to our hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 7 of the tour
A morning of golf on the challenging Pezula Championship Course. Later this afternoon we will enjoy a sundowner boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. After the boat trip you will then be at leisure to visit any of the many fantastic restaurants in town for dinner.

Day 8 of the tour
Check out of our hotel this morning and get ready to play a round of golf on the new Simola Golf Course. After golf we will then travel inland to the Klein-Karoo semi desert area and the town of Oudtshoorn. This town is known as the 'ostrich capital of the world' and we will have the opportunity to do either a tour of an ostrich farm or the Cango Caves later in the afternoon. This evening you should definitely try and ostrich steak for dinner.

Day 9 of the tour
This morning we will depart Oudtshoorn and travel to George Airport where your guide will drop you off to board your flight north to Durban. On arrival at Durban International Airport you will be met by your new guide and then travel along the N2 north to your guest house in Salt Rock. You will check in and then be at leisure for the rest of the evening.

 Day 10 of the tour
This morning we will play a round of golf at Zimbali Golf Course. The character of the course can be described as having an abundance of natural features which include constant changes in elevation, a combination of mature indigenous trees and vegetation and some beautiful wetland areas with natural streams and ponds, all creating a dramatic and beautiful setting. After golf you will then have the rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure.

Day 11 of the tour
An early start this morning as we drive to Prince's Grant Golf Course where we enjoy a scenic round of golf on a course that is situated amongst the sugarcane fields of Kwazulu-Natal. After golf we then make our way to Shakaland Cultural Village - home of the Zulu people. We will be treated to a guided tour of the village, be entertained by local dancers and try some traditional foods for dinner. After a festive evening we will overnight at Shakaland.

Day 12 of the tour
Another flight today as we leave Kwazulu-Natal and fly to Johannesburg. Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg you will be collected and then transfer approximately two hours to Sun City. On arrival at Sun City you will check in to your hotel. 

SECTION 2: Non-Guided Section

This resort will keep you entertained for the last few days of our tour. The Sun City resort has two golf courses, casino, inland beach and wave pool with numerous waterslides, tropical forest and many water sports.

Day 13 of the tour
A morning round of golf on the Gary Player Golf Course at Sun City - currently rated as South Africa's second best golf course. After the golf you will have some leisure time. Later this afternoon you will undertake a game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park where you will be on the lookout for the 'Big 5' (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo). This evening will be at leisure.

Day 14 of the tour
The morning you have at your leisure to relax. The afternoon will bring another superb round of golf on the Lost City Golf Course. Watch out for the 13^th Hole - Par 3 - Crocodile Pit. A relaxing evening at leisure to enjoy the resort facilities and restaurants for a last time.

Day 15 of the tour
Today your guide will collect you as you depart from Sun City to drive to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg where upon arrival your tour will come to an end and you will board your onward flight home.
