Are you hoping to enjoy a safari in South Africa? Then the northern and eastern parts of South Africa, such as the Kruger National Park and Kwazulu-Natal will not disappoint you. Journey into Africa offers a wide range of tours and safaris throughout these areas that should satisfy even the most avid wildlife enthusiast.

The northern reaches of South Africa are world-renowned for its game reserves and the abundant wildlife it has on offer. The region’s major cities include Johannesburg and Pretoria (Tshwane) while the Sun City Resort is also within easy reach. We specialise in sending groups to the Kruger National Park (one of the most well-known wild game sanctuaries in the world), but the mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland and the Kwazulu-Natal province are also well worth a visit. Places of interest in the Kwazulu-Natal region include:
  • St Lucia:
Any conservationist’s dream, St Lucia is made up of wetlands, mangroves and lagoons. Extensive conservation programs are in place to protect this incredibly fragile ecosystem and visitors can expect to enjoy activities such as snorkeling at Cape Vidal, game fishing at Mission Rock, tours across St Lucia Lake and loggerhead turtle spotting along the region’s coastline.
  • Hluhluwe Game Reserve:
Established in 1895, this is officially the oldest game park in the whole of Africa and the only formal conservation area in Kwazulu-Natal that boast the illustrious Big Five. Here, visitors can expect to enjoy incredible game drives- and walks, as well as world-class bird watching.
  • Shakaland:
Shakaland Zulu Cultural Village is an open-air museum where visitors can experience the culture, rites and customs of the traditional Zulu people for themselves. Fighting techniques and various indigenous crafts are demonstrated and visitors can even join in tasting traditional beer and delicacies. While in the KwaZulu-Natal area on a safari it is definitely worth taking a night away from the reserves to visit Shakaland and take in a bit of South African culture.

Further must-visit destinations include the Drakensberg Mountain and the city of Durban.

What our guests have to say...

I wouldn't hesitate to use your firm again and will recommend it to any friends who may visit South Africa. Your flexibility at rapidly changing plans just prior to our arrival was welcome. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. He brought in many side trips that added to the overall experience. The activities were fascinating and we saw just about every animal species we could imagine in the Kruger and even the lodge added to the overall trip experience.
