Namibia safaris are marked by vast unspoilt spaces and scenic beauty unmarred by roads, telephone wires and other marks of civilization. Wildlife is in abundance, offering fantastic bird-watching and game viewing opportunities on game drives as well as guided nature trails. The Namib Desert is the only desert that is home to elephant, rhino, lion and giraffe, as well as one of the world’s oldest living plants - the Welwitchia mirabilis. Successful safaris in Namibia are a certainty with around 26 parks on offer to visitors, the largest of which is the Etosha National Park with 114 mammal species. There are also eight mammal species that are endemic to Namibia; this includes the Black Faced Impala as well as a few mice, gerbils and bats. The Namib Desert offers 30 endemic species, mainly lizards, which call the gigantic sand dunes home.

Endangered species in Namibia include the Wild Dog, Black and White rhino as well as the Oribi and Puku. Namibia also boasts Southern Africa's largest population of cheetah that are not kept within the national parks. While on a Namibian safari you will get a chance to spot many of the twenty antelope species that gallop through the bush, these include the large Eland, the tiny Damara Dik-Dik and the magnificent Gemsbok. Smaller mammals that can be seen include the Mongoose and Jackal as well as the elusive Antbear and Honey Badger.

For the complete experience of a safari in Africa, Etosha National Park should be your choice. This majestic park has become known as one of the finest in the world for game viewing. The name translates to "great white place of dry water", and guests on Etosha safaris can look forward to seeing big herds of plains game, lion, cheetah and leopard. Around 300 Rhino also roam in the area as well as an elephant herd which fluctuates between 750-1500. The 26 parks on offer in this beautiful country are spread out over the northern and central areas where you will find open bushveld as well as the renowned coastal stretch, all of which will provide an unforgettable Namibian safari experience.

What our guests have to say...

We have just returned from our third holiday organised for us by Journey Into Africa. As always we have been delighted with the immaculate organisation of the trip which this time was quite complex. All the aspects of the trip flowed seamlessly from one to another with all the transfers taking place smoothly. Our stay at the Royal Livingstone was relaxing and a good base to do the activities around Victoria Falls. The game drives at Chobe Botswana, were very productive with our guide ensuring we had good sightings of many different animals. Golf at Fancourt was relaxed and a great place to end our stay in South Africa. We would certainly recommend booking with JIA. Dealing over the internet is no problem and queries are always answered immediately. We would certainly return for a fourth time.
