About Manyeleti Private Game Reserve: The name Manyeleti means 'Place of the Stars' in the Shangaan language and that is exactly what you will find on the perfect clear nights. As with many of the private game reserves that border the Kruger National Park, Manyeleti is no different in that there are no fences. By having the fenceless border this means that the animals can roam freely to form an integral ecological unit which will add immensely to your African safari experience.
There are only two commercially operated lodges based in the Manyeleti with only a maximum of 8 safari vehicles traversing the reserve, each vehicle will have on average 2937 hectares to themselves, making this one of the lowest vehicle density private reserves in the Greater Kruger National Park area.
This hot area with a subtropical climate experiences summer rainfall from October to March but the rainy season is never guaranteed to bring as much rain as they would like and droughts are sometimes experienced. The average annual rainfall is 500 millimetres per year. It is dryer than the areas further south and animals can often be seen at the waterholes. The period over winter can generally be dry with clear blue skies followed by cold evenings.

Game Viewing in the Manyeleti: Manyeleti can be broken down into two distinctive eco-zones. The northern part of the reserve is based on the Thornveld Ecozone which means that you would typically find such tree species as Knobthorn, Transvaal Saffron, Large-leaved Rock Figs, Red Bushwillow, Round-leaved Teak, Marula, Jacket-plum, Russet Bushwillow, Tree Wisteria, Umbrella Thorn, Weeping Wattle and Zebrawood.
Predators found in this thornveld region would be Lion, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Leopard and Black-backed Jackal. Browsers would be Kudu, Giraffe, Impala, Duiker, Bushbuck, Kudu and Nyala.
The second region to the south abounds with sweet grasses which are highly edible for all grazers. These animals would be Wildebeest, Zebra, White Rhino, Waterbuck and large herds of Buffalo.
Uncommon sightings in this reserve are generally Black Rhino and Sable Antelope.

Wildlife in Manyeleti: The wildlife found within the Manyeleti Private Game Reserve is plenty and varied and it does boast the 'Big 5' (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard). There is also a variety of other exciting wild game such as Cheetah, Hyena, Wild Dog, Side-striped Jackal, Black-backed Jackal, Wildebeest, Warthog, Giraffe, Zebra and many different types of antelope species such as Kudu, Waterbuck, Impala, Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbok, Bushbuck and Nyala.
The birdlife is also prolific with hundreds of species of some of the most beautiful birds the continent has to offer. Don't forget that there are also a variety of reptiles, insects and rodents to add to your experience.
