Days 1-2 of the tour
Upon arrival at Maun Airport you will be met by a company representative who will assist you to board your charter flight to Meno a Kwena Luxury Tented Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans. The camp is ideally located for safaris into three ecologically pristine wildlife sanctuaries including the Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi Pans and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Meno a Kwena is a unique safari camp incorporating a traditional safari theme with African culture in a wildlife environment that excites all emotions. The camp is designed to take full advantage of the most incredible view in Botswana. This may not be the most opulent safari camp but the attention to detail, style and service make up for it. The camp accommodates 16 guests in 8 tents (6 twin and 2 double) each with en-suite flush toilets and authentic safari showers, all with an enclosure of thorny branches for safety from wandering wildlife. The tents are hidden amongst the natural vegetation for privacy and each is in full view of the Breede River where wildlife comes to drink from the dry Kalahari.

At this camp the safari trips are designed to maximise all year round wildlife viewing opportunities while considering safety and comfort. Viewing wildlife from the comfort of the camp is an underrated experience that really ought to be encouraged. There is also access to two national parks and a wildlife reserve. Nomadic and migrant wildlife are influenced by water availability and this determines exactly where the safari are operated from season to season.

*** Activities while at the camp include:

  • Morning safari walks with Bushman groups for a rare insight into their rare relationship with nature, light exercise and seeing wildlife activity along the banks of the Boteti River
  • Game viewing in specially designed 4x4 safari vehicles into the Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans National Parks
  • Sleep under the stars in the saltpans
  • Scenic flight over the saltpans
  • Star gazing show with high tech, high power telescope
  • The meerkat experience
  • Cutural trip including rural horseriding

Overnight:     Meno a Kwena Luxury Tented Camp - Makgadikgadi Pans National Park (Lunch, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast)

Days 3-4 of the tour
After your morning activity you will board a charter flight to Delta Camp. Situated on the South-Western edge of Chief’s Island in the heart of the Okavango Delta is Delta Camp - set in the forest of a large, beautiful palm-studded island. The Okavango Delta with its crystal-clear channels, lagoons, sweeping floodplains and countless islands, is home to over 450 bird species, a spectacular array of plant species and full spectrum of African game - the Okavango has earned its reputation as one of the world’s premier wilderness areas. The focus is one of peace and tranquility (stalking game on foot provides all the excitement one could wish for) and guests are actively encouraged to visit a local village, home to the guides, and interact with the people there.

Dine in the elegant Dining Room overlooking the sweep of the Delta viewing the surrounding flood-plains and the wildlife that abounds. Another option is to take a beautifully prepared picnic onto on of the many nearby islands for a secluded and intimate experience. The choice of fresh vegetables, cheeses, excellent meats and fine wines flown in daily and lovingly prepared, maintain the camp’s enviable reputation for cuisine. Accommodation is for only 16 guests in spacious ‘lethaka’ (reed) chalets with en-suite facilities. Built of natural materials and elevated off the forest floor, each chalet has hot and cold running water, a shower with a view, and solar-powered electric lighting. The amazing design of the chalets is such that you enjoy the luxuries of a ‘top rate’ hotel, but without affecting the environment; you will find you share your chalet with the trees, while taking full advantage of the views of the surrounding bush and flood-plains.

Delta Camp adheres to a philosophy that guests may enjoy the “luxury” of their own private guide at no extra cost. The guides are truly “locals” this is a man of the swamp, born and raised in the area, and you will spend your days in his mokoro (dugout canoe) and walking on the many islands in the area, taking in the magnificent scenery and light, and the abundant game and birdlife of the Okavango.

Overnight:     Delta Camp - South-Western Okavango Delta (Lunch, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast)

What our guests have to say...

We have just returned from our third holiday organised for us by Journey Into Africa. As always we have been delighted with the immaculate organisation of the trip which this time was quite complex. All the aspects of the trip flowed seamlessly from one to another with all the transfers taking place smoothly. Our stay at the Royal Livingstone was relaxing and a good base to do the activities around Victoria Falls. The game drives at Chobe Botswana, were very productive with our guide ensuring we had good sightings of many different animals. Golf at Fancourt was relaxed and a great place to end our stay in South Africa. We would certainly recommend booking with JIA. Dealing over the internet is no problem and queries are always answered immediately. We would certainly return for a fourth time.
