BOT02 - 7 Day Kalahari Camping Safari

Get ready for another incredible safari in Africa, one that offers a distinctive look into the culture and history of the Kalahari's oldest and most secretive inhabitants. Visiting the Kalahari in Botswana is ideal for the adventure enthusiasts and offers breathtaking scenery, stunning desert wildlife and a priveleged introduction to the traditional lifestyle of the San Bushmen. The route follows from Maun to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve and then back to Maun. Departure dates can be found below. For this Botswana tour, we require a minimum of two guests and a maximum of twelve.

Day 1 of the tour
The safari begins in Maun, where your guide will meet you at 07h30 at a pre-arranged meeting point. You will travel 170km to a game farm on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, set up camp and have a safari briefing. In the afternoon you will participate in a nature walk led by local Bushmen trackers. They will share their intricate bush knowledge and give you an insight into their unique and intriguing culture.

Days 2-5 of the tour
You will wake up as the sun rises and enter the pristine wilderness of the largest game reserve in Botswana. The next four days will be spent exploring the undeveloped wilderness of the northern region of the Kalahari, moving from camp to camp. You will visit Passarge Valley and Deception Valley in your exploration of the Kalahari. Savor the vast open spaces, clear night skies and uninterrupted beauty on game drives and at camp. This is adventure camping in its purest form, water and communications are limited and we travel as a self-sufficient group. Camping is in a designated campsite with fixed/bush ablutions.

Day 6 of the tour
After our final morning game drive, we break camp and return to Maun, where our last night will be enjoyed in the comfort of a lodge. Dinner is at your own expense at the lodge.

Day 7 of the tour
The tour officially ends at 08:00 today. Transfers to Maun Airport for onward connecting flights can be arranged at an additional cost.

Types of Transport Used
These are custom-built game viewing vehicles that have been especially designed for our safaris. Each one of these vehicles takes a maximum of twelve passengers; this ensures both excellent game viewing and increased mobility. Each one of our vehicles has a cigarette lighter fitting, with a 12V DC that will easily recharge batteries for video cameras. We have designed our own trailers; each one of them contains a mobile kitchen plus space for all camping equipment and luggage. Please Note

• This tour is operated as a scheduled tour. Departure dates can be found below.
• Please note that there is a baggage restriction on this tour of 12kg per person. The maximum size bag allowed is 700mm x 350mm x 350 mm. Luggage should be packed in a soft bag (no hard suitcases or bags with frames or wheels) so that luggage can be fitted easily into the trailer. All supplies and equipment need to be carried with us for the duration of the trip hence restrictions. You can also bring an additional day pack for camera equipment etc to keep with you in the vehicle.
