About the Lodge: Londolozi Game Lodge is one of the original pioneering Private Game Reserves of the ecotourism industry in South Africa and an unashamedly family run, stand alone operation situated near to the Kruger National Park.
The name Londolozi (protect) is a Zulu word and means "protector of all living things" which is the ambitious conservation ethic that Londolozi embraces. This internationally recognised reserve is far sighted in progressive management of its land and wildlife rehabilitation as well as community involvement.
Known throughout the world as one of Africa's finest game lodges, Londolozi was the first green reserve in the world to be awarded Relais & Chateaux status, which reinforces its fantastic high levels of luxurious accommodation, fine cuisine and exceptional service.
Londolozi is home to five luxurious lodges all of a five-star standard. You will experience exceptional cuisine and the very best of game viewing with some of Africa's finest game rangers. All of the lodges have access to 14 000 hectares of traversing in the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve which is home to the "Big 5" (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo).

Accommodation: The five lodges at Londolozi are Varty Camp, Founders Camp, Tree Camp, Pioneer Camp and the Private Granite Suites. They vary in price due to the quality of accommodation. Varty Camp and Founders Camp are slightly larger and perfect for families and small groups and accept children of four years and older. The Private Granite Suites are the 'creme de la creme' of the Londolozi portfolio, closely followed by Pioneer Camp and Tree Camp. These three properties are all part of the Relais and Chateaux group of elite hotels. Tree Camp and the Private Granite Suites do not allow children under the age of 16 unless they are taken for exclusive use. Pioneer Camp can be used for both families and couples alike.
Varty Camp: Varty Camp is the heart and soul of Londolozi with the campfire having burned here for over 85 years. The decor is of the same tone as the owner's private homes and their continuing love affair with the earth.
All rooms have private swimming pools framed with timber decks that overlook the riverine bush. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under the trees. The camp has a pleasingly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children always have a place at Varty Camp.
The camp is also home to the original Sparta Hunting Camp, a boutique, the Cardio Vascular Room, Massage Treatment Room and a library. Guests from all of the camps can make use of these facilities.
Founders Camp: Founders Camp honours past guests and staff who have contributed to building Londolozi Game Reserve. It is their efforts which have distilled the legacy of the past 30 years into a common mission.
Enchanting, intimate and child friendly: Founders Camp is ideally situated to provide and insider's view of the secrets of river life. Seven idyllic chalets are situated in the shade of ancient ebony and matumi trees along the banks of the Sand River.
This is an African safari in the classic bush bohemian style, with black and creme fabric and original mahogany beds. Deep cream couches, military chests, compass safari lamps and riverside lounge sala, create a mood of easy luxury and laid back welcome for discerning families and travellers.
Tree Camp: This camp is a place of connoisseurship, leopards, orchids, lanterns and lead wood trees. Guests spend lazy afternoons on their decks, champagne in hand as they survey the ancient landscape, elephants feeding below in the river.
Elegance and simplicity are the hallmarks of the Tree Camp sanctuaries. In every detail and feature, from private swimming pools and contemplation decks (salas) to the Ralph Lauren wallpaper and chocolate plaited leather beds, this exclusive camp provides a matchless showcase of African excellence.
Tree Camp does not accommodate children under the age of 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.
Pioneer Camp: Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi's luxury camps. The three private suites have superb river views and are perfect for honeymoons and private getaways. Focused on multi-generation family travel, this adaptable camp can also be converted into a private bush home for family groups of 6-14 people through linking glass sky walkways into interconnected family units.
The spacious entrance-halls, are decorated with a Ralph Lauren feel. Clean lines, modern and sophisticated with floor to ceiling glass sliding panels which frame the wilderness views beyond. The bathrooms are classic Victorian with modern accents in the marble, chrome and mahogany finishes. Throughout the camp there is a pervading sense of history thanks to faithfully restored memorabilia of photographs, old suitcases, silver, crystal glass and gramophones. Everything about Pioneer Camp is deeply personal and provides a romantic backdrop to the adventures of a new generation of sophisticated travellers.
Private Granite Suites: The Private Granite Suites offer an extraordinary experience for the exclusive use of six guests. Bold, inspiring materials mirror the extrusion of granite rocks that surround the camp while conveying the raw essence of Africa. A palette of silver, charcoal and elephant grey in a range of sumptuous materials creates an elegant and contemporary setting in each expansive suite.
The emphasis is on space, light and privacy while blurring the barrier between inside and out. A seamless integration with nature is achieved with large doors and windows all opening directly onto the Sand River. This luxury safari lodge is for the discerning traveller who appreciates the finer details of an African safari.
Each suite has a private, heated swimming pool. The Private Granite Suites can be booked individually or as a private camp for six guests, making it ideal for honeymooning couples or small groups celebrating special occasions. They do not accommodate children under 16, unless guests book the camp exclusively.
