About the Lodge:
Located near the southern most part of Chief's Island, Moremi Crossing is situated on a small palm fringed tree island called Ntswi which is surrounded by the Moremi's game rich seasonal floodplains. Moremi Crossing Tented Camp is a short scenic 20 minute flight from Maun. As you fly over the Delta you can see the interactive twisting and turning of the waterways and the ever-changing colours where dry land meets Delta. In contrast to the northern Okavango Delta where the waters are fast-flowing and the channels and view is enclosed by high reeds and papyrus, the channels around Moremi Crossing and its sister camp Gunn's Camp offer far reaching vistas of the Moremi Game Reserve floodplains, grasslands and marginal woodlands interspersed with Mokolwane palm islands.

Moremi Crossing is a 16 tented camp built on a palm fringed island surrounded by the Moremi's game-rich seasonal floodplains and overlooking Chief's Island. It is a new style of safari camp that combines luxury with simplicity. It is a 100% eco-friendly lodge featuring the latest in solar and waste disposal technology.

Accommodation:
Luxury accommodation in 16 new-style vintage safari-tents, each with its own private wooden deck and magical views over the Boro River on to Chief's Island. All meru tents are large and airy with en-suite bathrooms consisting of shower and toilet.

Activities and Facilities:
The main central communal area houses a large open plan deck that has spectacular far reaching views over Boro River onto Chief's Island. This half moon shaped area is built on different levels to give you the feeling of space. Dining room, bar and lounge is covered by a large thatched roof that hugs the ancient riverine tree line and accentuates its most beautiful assets. Various small private lounge areas are created for comfort, privacy and spaciousness. Within the tree line you will find a nice shaded decked area that leads to the pool. The whole camp is shaded by magnificent Llala Palms, Giant Ebony, Mangosteen, Sausage and Giant Fig trees.

Time slows down on this Botswana safari at Moremi Crossing as guests have the chance to experience the Okavango Delta and its game from a very different slower and closer perspective: whilst on foot or silently being poled by mokoro through the Delta's waterways whilst in search of game. Through the provision of high quality guiding services and new custom made boats Moremi Crossing offers a more personalized willdife experience. Activities on offer are half or full day mokoro trips with game walks, bush walks with picnic lunch, wilderness camping and sunset motorboat cruises. Game walks are conducted on Chief's Island where you may come across numerous animal species not to mention a wide selection of birds and insects.

For the more adventurous, wilderness camping is also on offer. This involves packing up a mokoro with camping equipment and going with a professional guide out into the Delta for a night or two. It's a magical experience and a good way to get close to the birds and animals that the Delta has to offer. For the less energetic there are boat cruises up and down the Boro River or you can take advantage of the relaxed atmosphere of the camp and its facilities. Moremi Crossing combines simplicity with luxury and is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature at its best.

Moremi Crossing being a water based camp offers a wide variety of animal and bird species, with walks on Chief's Island giving you the opportunity to get a better view of not just the big animals but the smaller insects and birds that contribute to the Okavango's vast ecosystem. Game which has been spotted on walks has been Lion, Leopard, Wild Dog, Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Buffalo, Red Lechwe and many more. On the mokoro's you get to see the water birds like African Jacana's, African Fish Eagles and if you look carefully you will see the Malakite Kingfishers darting between the reeds, there is also a chance that your guide will find the rare Pel's Fishing Owl.

What our guests have to say...

We have just returned from our third holiday organised for us by Journey Into Africa. As always we have been delighted with the immaculate organisation of the trip which this time was quite complex. All the aspects of the trip flowed seamlessly from one to another with all the transfers taking place smoothly. Our stay at the Royal Livingstone was relaxing and a good base to do the activities around Victoria Falls. The game drives at Chobe Botswana, were very productive with our guide ensuring we had good sightings of many different animals. Golf at Fancourt was relaxed and a great place to end our stay in South Africa. We would certainly recommend booking with JIA. Dealing over the internet is no problem and queries are always answered immediately. We would certainly return for a fourth time.
