About the Lodge: Meno a Kwena is a unique safari camp that incorporates a traditional safari theme with African culture in a wildlife environment that excites all emotions. The camp is designed to take full advantage of the most incredible view in Botswana. It is not the most opulent safari camp in Botswana but that is made up for in style, attention to detail and service.
The camp can accommodate up to 16 guests in eight fully serviced luxury canvas safari tents. The camp is owner operated and so personal attention to detail is maintained with a lifetime background in African safaris and conservation. The lodge staff are extremeley sensitive to guests' safety and relaxation while sharing their enormous passion for wildlife. The ultimate luxury accommodation of an African safari is watching endless herds of wildlife drinking at the river from a canvas tent, or taking a shower in full view of the setting sun as the first roar of a lion echoes across the river below. It is these luxuries that enhance the authentic safari camp comforts of home.
The small camp has six twin and two double tents, each with en-suite flush toilets and authentic safari showers, all within an enclosure of thorny branches for safety from wandering wildlife. Each tent is hidden amongst the natural vegetation for privacy, and situated in full view of the Boteti River where wildlife comes to drink from the dry Kalahari.
We are fully aware that guests have high expectations when they decide to travel Botswana and this lodge has trips designed to maximise all year round wildlife viewing opportunities in safety and comfort. Viewing wildlife from the comfort of the camp is an underrated experience that really should be encouraged on every safari. Meno a Kwena Tented Camp is in one of the most ideal locations where spectacular wildlife sightings are experienced within view of the camp. The migratory water-dependent zebra and wildebeest herds concentrate along the Boteti River during the dry winter months (June - November), although obviously this is determined by the rains and water availability in the saltpans. As the Okavango Delta experiences higher than average water levels the wildlife populations spread to previously dry fringe areas, including the Boteti River as it extends deep into the Kalahari. There is also year round access to two national parks and a wildlife reserve. Nomadic and migrant wildlife is influenced by water availability and this determines exactly where safaris are operated from season to season. Activities are as follows:
The new Bushman nature walking activity enhances the variety of wildlife safari experiences available to guests while at the same time maximising sustainable benefits to the people of Botswana. In the short time that this activity has been offered into the ancient relationship between man and nature, guests have responded with increased positive feedback about their experience while staying at Meno a Kwena.
